Nov. 18, 2016 (Oakland, Calif.) MAG USA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MAG – the largest UK-owned airport group, announced today the opening of Escape Lounge at Oakland International Airport (OAK). The newest common-use lounge, which joins MAG USA’s current lineup of Escape Lounges in Minneapolis and Hartford, is accessible to all OAK passengers, post-security just after Gate 8.

For an admission fee of $45* per customer, all airline passengers traveling through OAK have the opportunity to take advantage of stylish and contemporary furnishings; an extensive complimentary locally inspired menu; a wide array of unlimited complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including local coffee brand RoastCo; flight information screens; free high-speed Wi-Fi; a relaxed atmosphere; and a selection of newspapers and magazines. Lounge admission maybe be reserved and pre-booked online at www.escapelounges.com for $40*. Premium cabin customers of Norwegian Airlines flying non-stop from OAK to London-Gatwick, Oslo, Stockholm and Barcelona will receive complimentary use of Escape Lounge.

“As home to one of the first Escape Lounges in the US, we are thrilled to partner with MAG USA to offer this luxury experience to customers at Oakland International,” said Bryant L. Francis, Director of Aviation for the Port of Oakland at Oakland International Airport. “We are expecting to serve over 12 million passengers this year, and the Escape Lounge offers an opportunity to enjoy an affordable and luxurious airport lounge with the artful menu offerings of one of our city’s most popular culinary artists.”

The OAK menu for Escape Lounge was created in partnership with Oakland-based Chef Chris Pastena, who brings over 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry to the development of the breakfast, lunch and dinner options for lounge users. In tying to the local spirit of the city, Pastena is putting a creative stamp on the food options while sourcing many local ingredients from the Bay Area. Pastena has been a staple in the Bay Area food scene for decades and currently owns Chop Bar, Lungomare and Calavera in Oakland.

“MAG USA is pleased to open the first airport lounge at Oakland International Airport and offer all passengers a convenient, affordable premium lounge experience,” said Rosemarie Andolino, President and CEO of MAG USA. “Passengers traveling through the East Bay will now have access to an airport lounge where they can relax and recharge while enjoying award-winning, local chef-inspired cuisine to enhance their travel experience.”

The Escape Lounge opening at OAK follows MAG USA’s first lounge opening at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and Bradley International Airport (BDL) near Hartford.

Escape Lounge is open each day from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. For more information or to pre-book your admission prior to arrival, visit www.escapelounges.com.
